Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility is the way in which we conduct business that achieves an integration of economic, environmental, and social imperatives while at the same time addressing shareholder and stakeholder expectations. Our focus in CSR is supporting sustainable development initiatives that benefit the larger community.
Below are some of the initiatives we have undertaken:
Jan 2021
Sand Donation at Karen Police station
As part of the Karen community, The Hub Karen joined its neighbors by donating 30 tonnes of sand towards the renovation of the Karen Police Station. We trust the donation will be a step towards achieving their goals.
December 2020
SHOE DRIVE
We had a successful shoe-drive campaign where shoppers were urged to donate to donate shoes to the less fortunate during the festive seasons. The donations were well received and brought smiles to kids, brothers and sisters of Little Sisters of St. Joseph orphanage and Huruma Children's Home.
Conservation
The Hub Mall sponsors Rhino Charge team to boost conservation efforts
For the third year in a row, The Hub Karen mall has announced its sponsorship for the Rhino Charge competition to the tune of Ksh. 500,000, underpinning its commitment towards wildlife conservation in Kenya.
Youth and Sports
The Hub supports Karengata Youth Soccer Association
The Hub Karen has partnered with the Karengata Youth Soccer Association to facilitate some of its programs. The Hub will provide the team with football kits for use in their games. The mall will also offer internship opportunities to the team members. Through this initiative, the Hub Karen is keen to promote skills and leadership for the youth to grow and develop in the work environment and become self-reliant.
Education
The Hub Karen supports community Library
The Hub Karen Mall along with The Rotary Club of Karen have been working towards a Book and Toy drive that will be used in the Library that is being built at The Karen Police Station. The Library will act as a community library. The Hub Karen Mall and The Rotary club are keen on promoting education and will also have reading workshops for the children in the community. The benefits of books collected will also be used for The Karen Technical Institute for the Deaf.
Security
The Hub Karen supports local Police
We believe in community policing and have been supporting the local police in their work. As part of this in 2014, The Hub Karen Mall donated a vehicle to the Karen Police station. The fully fitted Land cruiser has assisted the police in their patrols as they serve the Karen community better. We have also continued to regularly support police station with stationery in partnership with the Rotary Club of Karen to further enhance their capacity.
